Our Fish

We believe strong, healthy fish come from strong, healthy oceans. Which is why we tirelessly work with subject-matter experts to implement best practices that protect the health and biodiversity of our oceans. Together, we continue to innovate new approaches that allow us to close the gap between sustainability and bluefin tuna ranching.

Our Environment & Climate

We believe it is our duty to protect our oceans. Through a series of environmental best practices including waste management, reduction of our carbon footprint and fishery management, we continue to pave the way in our sustainability journey. Our main initiatives are:

Waste valorisation:

Our waste valorisation initiative is composed of three key projects:

Feed sourcing:

Over 97% of our feed is freshly sourced from MARPESCA, a Baja Farms subsidiary currently working towards an MSC certification for the main source of feed of our tuna, Monterrey Sardine (sardinops sagax) through the ITM (In-Transition to MSC) Program.

Carbon Footprint:

Through innovations in our feeding processes, refrigerant management, and sourcing changes throughout our supply chain, we continue to look for new ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
Scope 1 & 2: Currently at 6.07 Tons CO2/Ton_Tuna
Scope 1, 2 & 3: Currently at 10.4 Tons CO2/Ton_Tuna

Our People & Community

We believe strong, healthy fish come from strong, healthy people who are full of joy and purpose. Which is why we are honoured to closely work with our BAF team, as well as local community leaders to develop a range of initiatives that will strengthen and promote wellbeing within our organization and in our neighbouring communities.
